Renovate Your Bathroom Cabinet

Posted on December 8, 2011

When it comes to decorating a bathroom, it's very important to make it as appealing to the eyes as possible. We want the time we spend in the bathroom a pleasant one, because we do spend a good amount of our day in this particular room. To make the bathroom cabinet stand out from the rest of the bathroom isn't all that difficult if you know what to do. With just a little imagination, you can make this happen easily and quickly.

Use the power of light

Most of the bathrooms that you see in most homes today may only have a ceiling light, and maybe some natural light coming in from a window. But light can be used to draw the eye to a specific location, such as the bathroom cabinet.

By placing lights above the sink or directly under the cabinet itself, can be the perfect way to make them become the focal point of the room. Not only does it bring the eyes to the cabinet, it will illuminate the bathroom in a whole new way to give it an appealing feel and a sense of style.

Use the power of color

There are so many different colors and shades that can just make a room pop. Coordinating colors to complement each other is a good way to draw the eyes to a certain location in a room. A great way to make your vanity stand out from the rest of the room is to use an eye catching shade, such as a bright color.

If you want your bathroom cabinet to pop, you can use the color of red for the cabinet and then paint the rest of the room in white or another pale shade. To make it even more appealing, try and coordinate the same shade of the red as the cabinet in other places in the room, such as make the shower curtain rings red and by placing red hand towels on the towel rack. The trick is to even out the color within the room. Read more...

Finding Inspiration for Your Latest Interior Design Project

Posted on December 6, 2011

Getting ideas and inspiration can sometimes be the trickiest part of a home décor task. If you have not done any redecorating for a while, then your ideas of the latest trends could well be outdated as styles and trends change fairly quickly. Before you start a new project it's a good idea to get lots of inspiration and find out all about new products on the market before you make your final decisions on colours and materials. It's best to know what your choices are, now rather than base it on what was on the market years ago. You could be missing out on something really great!

Changes in Fashion, Availability and Price

Trends change quickly, and new innovations come along regularly. Some new manufacturing methods become far more affordable, for example you can get cheap floor tiles these days that look almost identical to stone tiles, so while you may previously have dismissed stone tiles are being too expensive, you can now afford to have that look by using stone effect porcelain floor tiles.

Do Your Research

Spending some time researching styles and products is time well spent. Your first stop should be the Internet. You can search from the comfort of your own home. Try using Google image search for kitchens or bathrooms, or design projects. There are sites online that specialise in design ideas and have whole galleries of photos featuring finished design projects posted by other site visitors. You can't beat seeing things for real though; visit kitchen and bathroom showrooms, tile and DIY stores, although don't rush into buying anything, once you've seen something you like such as bathroom wall tiles or a particular shade of paint, do search online to see if you can get a better deal. Best Contemporary Home Design

Posted on December 6, 2011

Contemporary home designs are very different from traditional designs for homes. Traditionally, the space available for homes was very abundant and bulky furniture and intricate interiors were the main features of the houses. With the passage of time, houses have been changed to being designed for nuclear families with less space. With the space being an issue, furniture that requires too much room cannot be used and too much of intricate designing of the interiors will look too showy. Hence, modern houses have contemporary furniture that isn't too heavy and that makes the home look more spacious.

The furniture used in such homes is generally very easy to maintain, sleek and classy and at the same time durable enough to last for a long time. The most striking features of the modern designs are the simple look with minimum clutter. Since there isn't too much room for furniture in such houses, they are made attractive by coloring the walls with a combination of light colors with a splash of one or more vibrant colors. All the furniture used must provide comfort and at the same time require least space and look stylish. Small houses look great with a modern form of designing. Read more...
